GIS does not solve all problems

GIS does not solve all problems. This statement may seem rather heretical to the GIS community, since we geospatial folks tend to be quite evangelical about the abilities of GIS to solve a whole host of problems. This has lead to lack of critical debate within the community as to the efficacy of GIS and geospatial technologies and methods.

While GIS does not solve all problems, there are business problems and issues that only GIS and the deliberate application of geospatial thinking can solve.
