Crowd Modeling and Construction Design
The Walt Disney Company
The Challenge
Where should the roller coasters go? What should the room temperature be inside the Tower of Terror? How do you optimize crowd movements through a theme park? The folks at Walt Disney Imagineering, the team in charge of creating Disney theme parks, asked if we could help them reduce construction costs by 3% at their California Adventure park and others.
Our Insight
Knowing that Disney collected and cataloged all their park data assets, we wanted to make the best use of their existing data.
Our Approach
We decided to transform the way Disney looked at their theme parks. We took them from a series of CAD drawings to a scalable set of geospatial data that renders in 2 and 3-D.
