PAR Government, now Booz Allen, has an imagery viewer and metadata editor software that was technically capable but held back by an outdated interface that limited user satisfaction and adoption.
Integral partnered with PAR to lead the full UX redesign, working alongside their product and development teams from user research and wireframes through final mockups, delivering a modernized platform complete with a new name and design.

Define the decision
PAR Government’s core product was sound. The technology worked. But for enterprise software, a capable back end is only half the equation. If users struggle with the interface, adoption stalls, satisfaction drops, and the product fails to reach its potential regardless of what it can do under the hood.
The decisions PAR needed to solve:
How do we modernize our interface without alienating existing users? How do we design for the workflows our clients actually use? How do we expand our reach to new users while keeping our core user base happy? The challenge wasn’t rebuilding the product. It was understanding who used it, how they used it, and what a modern, intuitive version of it should look and feel like.

Design the system
Before touching any designs, Integral built a working relationship with PAR’s product and development teams. The process started with user stories and personas to understand who was using the platform and how, then moved into defining which features needed the most attention and what better workflows could look like.
The redesigned GVX platform giving users a modern imagery viewer with spatial context, filters, and annotation tools built around real workflows. -
Build the platform
With the user research and workflows defined, Integral’s design team produced mockups and wireframes for each feature, working hand in hand with PAR’s development team who would be implementing them. The deliverables covered a full interface overhaul including updated UI components, color systems, interaction patterns, and workflows across the imagery viewer and metadata editor.
The result was a modernized platform released under a new name and visual identity, ready for the next generation of users.
A clean, intuitive interface that expanded PAR’s reach beyond technical early adopters to the full range of users their platform was built to serve. -
Deliver the insight
PAR released their modernized imagery viewer and metadata editor complete with a new name, logo, and design. The updated interface gave existing users a more intuitive experience while opening the product to a broader audience.
The engagement established a foundation for ongoing collaboration, with PAR continuing to work with Integral on future iterations including UX enhancements and additional plugin support.

Support real-world use
PAR’s platform was built by engineers who knew the technology deeply but needed a partner to make it usable at scale. Integral established design standards across the product, expanded its accessibility beyond technical early adopters, and set a foundation for every future release.
We continue to partner on future iterations, with a shared design language now in place to nurture the platform's ongoing growth.
